Organize a Fun Way to Announce the New School Tradition
Fun activities before a big match are met by much enthusiasm. Game day traditions are an integral part into turning any school into a close knit community. The first step in starting any new tradition is to make sure that all parties involved are aware and prepared for the announcement. It should be exciting and spread throughout the entire school. Such an event should be well organized and you should be aware of all liabilities in planned events. Make sure to have student volunteers in helping to introduce and begin the tradition preferably those that are already well known amongst the student body.
Get the Students and Fans Involved
It’s all about team spirit. There are several ideas for traditional activities and cheers that can be passed on for years to come. Having everyone wearing their team colors and decorating the school is a good way to get students and fans pumped for any game.
Create a Spirited Cheer
Another tradition that helps build school spirit is a traditional cheer that highlights your school name, colors and/or a mascot. Have the cheerleaders perform this cheer at every pep rally as well as at different intervals of each game. It never fails that with repetition of a cheer of this caliber that the fans will respond by yelling along.
Have a Big Celebration, Like a Parade
An easy way to build school spirit and even raise a little money is to set up booths for a variety of things such as food vendors, school merchandise and face paints.
Something that works great for your bigger games such as homecoming and/or senior night is to have a parade to get your whole town in on the fun and get everyone energized. Music really sets the atmosphere and can be used for a team intro or openings made by marching bands, cheering squads and/or other various school groups all aid in setting an exciting mood. Even with a loss the school will have had a great time preparing and attending the game.
